The Envision Shakopee Team Updates City Council on Project Progress
On December 19th, Shakopee City Council received a project update by MKSK for the Envision Shakopee planning process. The planning team reviewed the wide variety of community engagement efforts conducted thus far—including focus groups, social media, community events, surveys, and online interaction. Also, the presentation reviewed the data analysis that has been completed, including demographic and population trends, housing, transportation, economic environment and more. The bulk of the presentation focused on the Emerging Themes that have been identified through the engagement and analysis efforts, and which will be explored in more detail in the next phase of the planning process.
Before the meeting, each Council member completed a survey asking about their vision and priorities for the plan as members and leaders of the Shakopee community. A brief overview of key priorities and goals resulting from Council’s responses was provided.
Next steps will be to explore opportunities and strategies for each theme to present at the January Community Workshop.
